Davante Adams is signing with an NFC playoff team from last year, but the team isn’t the Green Bay Packers. The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver — and former Packer — is headed to the Los Angeles Rams on a two-year deal worth $46 million, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal includes $26 million guaranteed, creating a big payday for the 32-year-old receiver.

The Packers were a possible landing spot for Adams, who was released by the New York Jets. But the reunion wasn’t to be — Adams got big money and a chance to play on the West Coast from the Rams, who won the NFC West and took the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to the brink in the NFC Divisional Round.
In Los Angeles, Adams will get to play with Super Bowl champion quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The move to the Rams checks all the boxes for Adams: a deal worth over $20 million in salary per year, a new home near family on the West Coast and a chance to play with Stafford and for coach Sean McVay.
While he turns 33 in 2025, Adams still looked like an elite player in 2024. Over 14 games last season, Adams caught 85 passes for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. He had touchdowns in five of his last six regular season games.
The Packers traded Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders following the 2021 season. Adams caught over 100 passes in both 2022 and 2023, but the Raiders limped through the start of the 2024 season and eventually traded Adams to the Jets, reuniting him with Aaron Rodgers. The Jets finished 5-11 and 24th in scoring.
The Packers do not play the Rams in the regular season next season.
If Adams was a top target for the Packers, a change in direction at receiver will be required. It’s possible a trade for DK Metcalf is still in the works as free agency nears. The Packers are expected to add a veteran receiver to the mix this offseason.
Sunday was a big day for former Packers. Adams signed with the Rams, edge rusher Za’Darius Smith was released by the Detroit Lions and running back Aaron Jones re-signed with the Vikings.
