Packers expected to host Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams on pre-draft visit

The Green Bay Packers are expected to host Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams on an official pre-draft visit ahead of the 2025 NFL draft, per Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.

Williams was a Freshman All-American as a true freshman for the national champions in 2022 and an All-SEC pick in both 2023 and 2024. He finished his three-year career at Georgia with 14.0 sacks, 23.0 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.

While playing through an injured ankle in 2024, Williams created a career-high 9.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks.

The No. 15 player on the consensus big board, Williams is likely to be a first-round pick next month. The Packers hold the No. 23 overall pick in the first round and will likely be in the market for defensive front help.

At 6-5 and 260 pounds, Williams is of ideal size for the Packers at defensive end. His combination of explosive traits, length and age (still only 20 years old) gives him incredible potential for quick and valuable improvement at a premium position, especially after providing an excellent blend of run defense and pocket disruption for a top collegiate program over the last three seasons.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com labeled Williams as an “upside prospect with loads of traits” and believes it is “inevitable” that Williams will be an impactful 4-3 defensive end at the next level.

The Packers are doing plenty of pre-draft work on edge rushers, especially through the visit process. Bringing Williams to Green Bay will ensure the team has a complete evaluation profile on one of the top pass-rushing options in the 2025 class.
