Nick Bosa’s mom urges the 49ers to make a huge move this offseason that would improve their Super Bowl chances

The San Francisco 49ers are fresh off a disappointing campaign this past season. Next year, the expectations will be high once again for a talented roster, that does need to make improvements. 

Along the defensive line, San Francisco could use help on both the interior and outside. The pass rush struggled in big games early in the season for the 49ers, before injuries really derailed their season in 2024. 

Bringing in a Pro Bowl talent as a veteran off the edge could make a ton of sense for the niners this offseason. 

A Bosa Reunion in San Francisco?

Nick and Joey Bosa’s mom teased a potential joining of the two pass rushers on the 49ers. 

Nick is a perennial Pro Bowl player for San Francisco, and Joey Bosa could be a salary cap casualty via the Los Angeles Chargers.

If Bosa is cut by the Chargers this offseason, they could save around $25 million against the cap next season. At the moment, he is a $36M cap hit on his current deal. If another team adds him, expect that number to change one way or another. 

The 49ers currently have just over $44M in cap space, via OverTheCap. 

Accordingly, they have the space to make this sort of move, while also preserving room to extend Brock Purdy and add other pieces to the roster, particularly for depth on both sides of the ball. 

The next domino to drop in this scenario would be Joey’s release. The Niners, as well as other interested teams, cannot do a whole lot until then.
