The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday and the Minnesota Vikings will have an opportunity to add a few talented collegiate prospects to their roster. This is a fun event for fans who are getting excited for the upcoming season.
The Vikings currently hold the rights to four selections at the draft: picks in rounds one, three, five, and six. Because of trades made during the previous draft and this offseason, the team finds itself with a lack of capital for the three-day event.
The Minnesota Vikings could do some bold things during the 2025 NFL Draft
Wild Vikings draft prediction No. 1
The Vikings stay put and only draft four players. If Minnesota only makes four selections during the 2025 NFL Draft, they will set a franchise record for the smallest draft class in team history. Assuming they have some strong ideas of players they want to add at their current draft positions, making trades doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Wild Vikings draft prediction No. 2
A wide receiver is Minnesota’s second selection. It seems like defensive back is the most popular position for mock drafts this year. Whether it is a safety or corner, that seems like the safest bet. The Vikings don’t have a ton of roster holes to fill, but could use to add some more talent at wide receiver to help out Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Wild Vikings draft prediction No. 3
Ty Chandler gets replaced. Chandler has had opportunities to shine with the Vikings, but has struggled to make the most of them. With Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason leading the way as Minnesota’s one-two punch, that leaves Chandler as the odd man out and could be fighting for a job if a rookie running back joins the roster.
Wild Vikings draft prediction No. 4
No specialists will be selected. The Vikings used a draft pick in last year’s draft on kicker Will Reichard but won’t add to the unit during this year’s event. Although Minnesota could use some competition for punter Ryan Wright, that player will come from an undrafted free agent signing and not the draft itself.

Pick announcing will actually go smoothly. At the 2022 NFL Draft, Ed Marinaro went way off script while announcing a draft pick. This year, it will be former Minnesota Vikings tight end Stu Voight who will be announcing the team’s Day 2 pick. Considering his experience in commentary and the media, this should go much more smoothly this time around.
