Bob Myers claimed that LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant are the three biggest superstars of the NBA.
Kendrick Perkins thinks Kevin Durant is not in the same league as LeBron James and Steph Curry
For more than two decades, LeBron James has been the face of the NBA. Then along the way came Kevin Durant and Steph Curry who elevated themselves to be beside ‘The King’ as the three top superstars in the league. The trio have gone on to dominate NBA Finals for much of that period.
With ten NBA titles and multiple gold medals between them, they signified the greatest trio of superstars of this post 2000’s era. As they still continue to play, analysts and fans want to see them fight for some more championships. Even if they don’t the trio are still the most marketable superstars in the game.
That is the reason why the NBA scheduled them to be a part of their Christmas Day specials. It led to a discussion on NBA Countdown ahead of the games where Bob Myers claimed that the trio are the only superstars in the league. Hearing this, Kendrick Perkins replied.
I think Steph and Bron are megastars ok. There’s a difference, they are in a different stratosphere than everybody else.
Kendrick Perkins to Bob Myers
On hearing this, the former Golden State Warriors GM asked Perkins if he did not think Kevin Durant was part of the Mega Star group. To this the former NBA Champion replied.
No, KD is not in the same conversation with Steph and Bron, I’m sorry.
Kendrick Perkins to Bob Myers
His comments did create a debate on the sets of NBA Countdown as it was an individual opinion. Myers had recruited Kevin Durant to the Warriors in 2016, therefore asked Perkins to reconfirm his notion. Otherwise, neither Stephen A. Smith nor host Malika Andrews differed from Myers’ original claim.
Kevin Durant leads Suns to break losing streak
The Phoenix Suns traded for Kevin Durant to guide them to their first ever NBA championship. So far that has not materialized as he and his star teammates struggled with injuries and chemistry issues. In the offseason, the 36-year-old was seen as a possible trade target for upcoming contenders.
However, the Suns declared that they were keeping their superstars. The franchise hasn’t been lights out so far as injury dampened their early season winning streak. This month for instance, they have had more losses than wins, not the ideal situation when playing in the competitive West.
But when playing on Christmas Day, the biggest stars tend to shine. When his other OG superstars LeBron James and Steph Curry shined in their game, he was not to be left behind. The Washington native put up 27 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 each steals and blocks to lead his team to a win.
That 110-100 road win over a tough Denver Nuggets team helped them stem a 2-game losing stretch. Kevin Durant leading his team with an all-round performance should go on to strengthen his stake as one of the three biggest superstars of the league.
