Green Bay Packers Linked to Blockbuster Trade for $40 Million Pass Rusher

The Green Bay Packers could be looking to make major moves on defense this offseason.

General manager Brian Gutekunst is fielding calls to trade 28-year-old Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, and the Packers seem intent on bolstering the defensive line in hopes of creating more consistent and punishing front-four pressure next season.

Gutekunst and the Packers may be able to accomplish the latter by pulling off a blockbuster trade for one of the marquee players at the position across the league.

Could the Green Bay Packers Trade for Joey Bosa?

Jason Reed of Bolt Beat suggests that the Los Angeles Chargers could look to move off edge rusher Joey Bosa this offseason, and that the Packers would be a logical fit and trade partner.

“The Green Bay Packers have been named a potential landing spot for Khalil Mack but with the Chargers prioritizing bringing Mack back, the team can instead send the Packers its other edge rusher to fill the void,” Reed wrote.

Under Reed’s proposal, Bosa lands with the Packers in exchange for a meager fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.  Bosa, 29, could be a building block along a revamped Packers’ offensive line, and is coming off a five-sack and 22 total-tackle 2024 campaign. Gutekunst has gone on record this offseason saying that his goal is to bring in the caliber of talent that can propel Green Bay into the Super Bowl conversation. Adding Bosa would be a big step in that direction. The Packers could be looking to prioritize generating pressure along the defensive line after the Philadelphia Eagles relentlessly swarmed Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX, and following the latest blueprint to winning the Lombardi Trophy. Through his first nine seasons, Bosa has produced 343 total tackles with 72 sacks and would add a strong veteran presence, not to mention game-wrecking ability along the Packers’ defensive line.
