Dan Graziano believes the Dallas Cowboys can return to the playoffs in 2025. On ESPN’s NFL Live, the NFL insider explained how Dallas can get back into the playoff picture after a challenging 2024 season.
“The Cowboys, when Dak Prescott has had fully healthy seasons, have been a playoff contender pretty consistently and have often won the division,” Dan Graziano said. “If you thought the Cowboys were a playoff contender before, obviously you think so now. And if you were worried about it before, this gives you reason to hope. But as long as Dak Prescott is healthy, which, to our understanding, he’s expected to be, and if he gets through the season healthy, then they generally have been a pretty good team during his time there. …Somebody like a Dallas could sneak in.”
Graziano also mentioned that no team from the NFC East has repeated as division champions in 21 years. The Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC East in 2024 and went on to win the Super Bowl. The Cowboys have won the division twice in the last four years.
Dak Prescott have led the Dallas Cowboys to the playoffs five times in nine seasons
Dak Prescott missed more than half of the 2024 season due to an injured hamstring. It’s the second time in his career that he has missed more than half the year, with the other time being in 2020. In that season, Prescott played in just five games because he suffered a season-ending ankle injury. The Cowboys missed the playoffs during the years that Prescott suffered season-ending injuries. In the seven other seasons Prescott has been in Dallas, the team has reached the postseason five times.
Along with a healthy Dak Prescott, Graziano believes the Cowboys will be better due to the addition of wide receiver George Pickens. In his three seasons witht he Pittsburgh Steelers, Pickens caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.
“Looking at the Cowboys a week ago vs. the Cowboys now, George Pickens, they needed a better wide receiver No. 2 than they had,” Graziano said. “And he’s better than what they had. As long as he fits in, as long as he does what they need him to do, it makes them better.”
