Buffalo Bills lose fan favorite WR to division rival in free agency

He was here for just one season, but Mack Hollins left a lasting footprint with the Bills. In 2025, Hollins will be suiting up for the Patriots.

Mack Hollins went from an unheralded free agent signing in 2024 to a Bills Mafia fan favorite and locker room favorite for the Buffalo Bills in a short time.

Off the field, Hollins stood out with his barefoot approach regardless of the weather and his unique pre-game outfits. Whether it was dressing up as Animal from the Muppets or Fred Flintstone, fans ate up Hollins’ personality.

On the field, Hollins stood out as well. He became a reliable target for Josh Allen hauling in 31 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns, a career-best mark. He also made numerous plays downfield as a blocker.

In addition to carving up a sizable role on offense, Hollins was a core special teams player. He played 100 special teams snaps (22 percent) in 2024. Hollins did a little bit of everything and seemed to enjoy being a jack-of-all trades for Buffalo.

After one of the best seasons of his career, Hollins cashed in during the NFL’s legal tampering period agreeing to a two-year, $8.4 million contract with the New England Patriots. The deal maxes out at $10.4 million.

Hollins’ leadership on and off the field will be coveted in New England. Drake Maye, the team’s second-year quarterback, had an excellent rookie season and will benefit from having a selfless player like Hollins in 2025 and 2026 as the team looks to get back into playoff contention in the AFC East.

Hollins’ time in Buffalo may be over, but he left a lasting footprint with the Bills.
