It’s far too early in Bronny’s career to say what type of player he’ll be. As of yet, Bronny James has appeared in just three preseason games, averaging 0.7 points, one rebound, one block, and 0.3 assists in 11.9 minutes per contest.
Quite frankly, Bronny’s low numbers shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. He averaged seven points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in six Summer League games, shooting just 32.7 percent from the field.
As far as being a professional basketball player is concerned, Bronny has a long way to go. That said, Bronny is already showing himself to be a savvy businessman.
While playing college ball, James landed multiple large NIL deals, including a Nike partnership, an endorsement from Beats by Dre, and a deal with PSD underwear. As of May 2024, On3 estimated that Bronny’s NIL worth is around $5.9 million.
Let’s take a look at each of these deals in detail.
Nike
Following in his father’s footsteps, Bronny James signed with Nike on October 10, 2022. He was one of the first college athletes to introduce a jersey as part of the NIL era.
Bronny’s father, LeBron, has been a Nike athlete since the start of his professional career. Recently, Bronny has been spotted wearing his father’s shoes on the court and he played a role in the launch of LeBron’s latest signature sneaker, the Nike LeBron 20.
When asked about the deal, Bronny had this to say:
“For as long as I can remember, Nike’s been a part of my family. Getting a chance to team up with them and continue my family’s legacy both on the court and in the community is wild—it really means a lot to me”
Beats by Dre
In October 2022, James became the first high school athlete to sign with Beats by Dre. Fourteen years after LeBron James became the brand’s inaugural ambassador, his son Bronny James has secured his own name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with the popular headphone company.
PSD Underwear
In February 2022, PSD, an underwear brand, announced a new partnership with Bronny James.
Other ambassadors of the underwear brand include NBA players such as Jimmy Butler, Ja Morant, Trae Young, and Tyler Herro.
When asked about the deal, Bronny had this to say:
“I’ve been wearing PSD for as long as I can remember,” James said in a news release. “When the connection is real and authentic, it makes a partnership like this really exciting. I’m looking forward to sharing my ideas and input to create some pretty unique pieces.”
In July 2023, James partnered with Google to promote their new circle and search function, making an appearance in an advertisement for the brand. Further details about the deal have not been released to the public.
Fanatics Collectibles
In January 2024, James and his father, LeBron, collaborated on a sports trading card for Fanatics. Bronny’s deal with the company is part of LeBron’s multi-year trading card partnership with the brand, featuring a special card that showcases LeBron in his high school uniform alongside Bronny in his USC Trojans uniform.
While Bronny’s NBA legacy is uncertain, his business decisions have set him up for success for the rest of his life.
