The Los Angeles Lakers made a blockbuster trade in February, acquiring Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks.
The Lakers had to part ways with Anthony Davis and Max Christie to acquire Doncic.
Davis appeared in 312 games with the Lakers. He helped the franchise win the 2020 championship against the Miami Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble in his first year with the team.
A 10-time All-Star, Davis averaged 24.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 blocks with the Lakers in the regular season 24.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.0 blocks in the postseason.

During a recent interview with Speedy Morman, Davis was asked to talk about a “weird” pregame routine he’s seen before, and while the Chicago native didn’t say his name, Davis was clearly talking about LeBron James.
“One guy I know, the greatest of all time, if not the greatest,” Davis said. “So once he gets to the arena, (he) takes his entire uniform, from the jersey, the shorts, the socks, the shoes, everything, and lays it on the floor. And no one can touch it. And it’s like, it became a thing where you can’t even walk over it.”
James and Davis remain friends despite the Lakers-Mavericks trade. Both superstars have the same agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group.
James, 40, is the oldest active player in the NBA. He averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks this season and 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.8 blocks in the 2025 playoffs.
Davis appeared in only nine regular-season games with the Mavericks due to an adductor injury. He averaged 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.6 steals and 2.2 blocks.
The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs, while the Mavericks missed the postseason after making the NBA Finals last year.
