Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is expected to grab a major honor this week.
There can be no denying that Josh Allen was the driving force behind the Buffalo Bills’ superb 2024 season, with his play finally lending to a genuine MVP run.
Allen reeled in his pesky turnovers and played mistake-free for large portions of the season, while the offense averaged 30.9 points per game without a genuine No. 1 receiver.
In total, No. 17 finished his year with 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions (career low), had the second-best passer rating of his career (101.4), and his best-ever QBR (77.3). Plus, he rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns as well.
And because of those numbers, coupled with how he led his team all year, CBS Sports has Allen, not Lamar Jackson winning the MVP award.
“The Buffalo Bills lost so much this past offseason, people were writing them off as legitimate contenders,” CBS Sports writes. “While Lamar Jackson added Derrick Henry to his backfield, Allen lost his starting center and top two wideouts. However, he somehow played the best season of his entire career!
“Allen accounted for 41 total touchdowns and just 25 negative plays (sack, fumble or INT). That’s the fifth-best difference by a quarterback since 2000, and the four other QBs all won MVP. Allen was the reason the Bills went 13-4, won the division and made the AFC Championship.”

For most, the MVP is a toss-up between Allen and Jackson, and one can easily make the case for either to win.
But many feel Allen’s season, given he was able to do more with less around them than what Lamar had, should be the MVP, and in truth, one won’t have any qualms if Jackson wins.
However, the 2024 season was a rather special one for No. 17, and while the team didn’t get the success it wanted, having Allen named as the NFL MVP would soften the blow a touch.
