The Denver Nuggets have not lost to the Miami Heat since Game 2 of the NBA Finals, which was their only loss in that series. Since then, Denver has won five-straight over Miami, including Wednesday night’s matchup.

Denver’s dominance over Miami goes back even further than last year’s NBA Finals series, as the Nuggets have not lost to the Heat in the regular season since August 1st, 2020, making it eight-straight regular season victories. Nikola Jokic, who is a problem for any opponent, has averaged 20.4 PPG, 12.5 RPG, and 8.0 APG in these matchups.

While these numbers may seem standard for Jokic, considering the production he puts up on a nightly basis, it’s his ability to dictate the game and get his teammates going that makes Denver so tough.

When asked about Denver’s dominance over Miami in recent years, Heat star Bam Adebayo said, “It’s game by game. We take it game by game. You never know, we might see them down the road again… It’s not guaranteed at all, but when situations happen when you haven’t beaten a team and it presents itself again, you feel like that’s your moment, and it could happen.”

While Miami doesn’t look like a team that could end up in the NBA Finals, they didn’t for much of last season either, and still made an improbable run.
