Dante Fowler has played for four teams during his NFL career.

He’s about to add a fifth. The veteran defensive end has agreed to a deal with Washington Commanders and will leave in free agency, according to multiple reports. Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz was the first to report the news.

The deal reunites Fowler with former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, whom Washington hired as its head coach this offseason. He’s the third Cowboys free agent to follow Quinn to Washington so far, joining defensive end Dorance Armstrong and center Tyler Biadasz.

Fowler made a big contribution in very little time last season. He finished fourth in quarterback pressures with 32 and tied for fourth in sacks — with DeMarcus Lawrence — with four despite being on the field for just a quarter of the team’s defensive snaps. He also forced a fumble and had three passes defensed.

The veteran, entering his 10th season, hasn’t lived up to the promise that made him the third player taken in the NFL draft coming out of Florida in in 2015. But he’s a solid player who has carved a nice niche for himself at this stage of his career.
