This impala appeared to be in complete control as it shook off the cheetah that was gripping its neck before running for its safety. The magnificent animal in Kenya’s Masai Mara was able to escape unharmed after fending off two cheetahs.

The images were captured by 52-year-old Jeffrey Wu from Cᴀɴᴀᴅᴀ, who spent six hours in pursuing the female cheetah Selenkai and her young.

A huge male impala was ambushed by Selenkai, who caught him off unprepared, according to Jeffrey. But she couldn’t Bɪᴛᴇ into his neck to suffocate him since he was too huge. One of the cubs followed and got on the impala’s back, but the impala stood his ground and made an effort not to fall.

To gather her breath, Selenkai let go of the impala’s neck, but when she did, the animal struggled, sprang to his feet, and began to flee for his life. Selenkai and her cub pursued him, she was on top of him trying to Bɪᴛᴇ into his neck once more but it was too late. Both Selenkai and the youngster were too weak to continue the pursuit.

This enormous impala just managed to shake off the two cheetahs and flee. He was one fortunate impala. To limit the ʀɪsᴋ of getting ʜᴜʀᴛ, big cats like lions and cheetahs typically go for their prey’s throat and suffocate it first.
