The Celtics were in a complex position during Game 3 of the series, with the Mavericks keen to get revenge and the first win of the matchup. They were close, but the Celtics showed they were the better team and got the game and the 3-0 lead against the Texans team.

A video recorded inside the Celtics locker room showed how the Celtics players felt after the game ended with the 106-99 win, but Deuce kept things real and said a three-word message that made everybody laugh.

“We almost lost,” a surprised Deuce Tatum said while his father laughed and Jrue Holiday tried to shake his hand.

The Celtics escaped that game with a win that confirmed the direction of the series. The Mavericks would have been 2-1 down with a win that night, but they dug themselves into a 3-0 hole that nobody in NBA history has been able to overcome.

Jayson Tatum and company would end up winning the NBA championship in five games, with the kid once again celebrating with his father.

Jayson Tatum sent fiery message to doubters after winning NBA championship

After a season full of criticism and doubt from a group of fans and analysts, Jayson Tatum finally won the NBA championship. He was close to doing so before, but his shortcomings prevented the Celtics from reaching NBA glory again.

Following the game and the series, the forward clapped back at his critics, asking what they’re going to say now that he’s an NBA champion, having a stellar performance to lead his team to the win.

“First of all, God is the greatest. Not cause we won but he put me in a position to maximize my God-given abilities, to surround me with these guys, my family. This is an incredible feeling. … It’s been a long journey. We have a resilient group. We’ve been through a lot over the last couple of years, over my seven years (in Boston). What they gonna say now? What they gonna say now?!” Tatum said.

Jayson Tatum and the Celtics have the tools, and one would say the hunger, to compete for more championships for many years. The C’s are a top team in the NBA and if they keep playing at this level, it’ll be hard for the competition to beat them.
