The secrets behind Tom Brady’s success and physique at 47 – and how NFL No.1 pick Caleb Williams is using same tactic

The new England Patriots icon has eased off on his strict diet – but only slightly

NFL icon Tom Brady recently celebrated his 47th birthday by showing off his insane physique.

And the New England Patriots legend has remained in NFL shape as he approaches his fifties by maintaining his notoriously strict diet.

Brady surprised fans with a ripped shirtless selfie as he celebrated his birthday during a family vacation in Sardinia.

“Birthday selfie, new tradition!” he told his 14 million Instagram followers.

“Tom thirst trappin’ in his mid-forties, love to see it,” a fan joked.

Since retiring, the NFL legend has worked extremely hard to keep his incredibly muscular body as he transitions to the next phase of his life.

Brady’s food regime consists of four banned foods: dairy, white sugar, white flour, and caffeine.

He also avoids nightshade vegetables – such as peppers and tomatoes – and even strawberries.

“I don’t think it’s a strict regimen,” Brady told People.

“I think it’s just trying to make healthy choices that allow me to live the life I want to live.”

The former NFL star was widely known for his TB12 method while playing and even created a business and brand.

TB12 is a high-protein, plant-based diet that excludes gluten, dairy, corn, soy, MSG, coffee, alcohol, GMOs, sugar, trans fats, overly processed foods, and more.

Now Chicago Bears star Caleb Williams is following in Brady’s footsteps by adopting the TB12 method.

Since retiring, Brady has been very outspoken about his desire to spend more time with his children and his belief that maintaining healthy eating is essential.

“I think what I put in my body is very important,” he says.

“My body was my asset… I still want to maintain.

“I’ve developed so many healthy habits. I just want to stick with them.”

The NFL icon has eased up on his strict diet by revealing that he now occasionally eats ice cream – but only if it is a high-quality product.

“My thing is, if I’m going to eat ice cream, I want to eat good ice cream,” he told People.

“I’m not going to buy some s****y 7-Eleven ice cream.

“I want gelato. Here we go. You know what I mean? That’s how you should do it.”

Brady says his tastes result from years of conditioning – and he cannot change his eating habits.

“I ate the way that I ate because it helped me perform. So it’s like, why change?” says Brady.

“I couldn’t even go back to eating the bad food that maybe I ate in the past just because I wouldn’t even feel good.”

Brady added that spending quality time with his children is a key reason he stays fit and healthy.

“My physical body is so important to me. I relied on it so long to perform, and I still do because I love being active,” he said.

“So it’s like when I’m with my kids, I want to be skiing with them. I want to be on the boards, I want to be surfing with them.

“I want to golf, and if my son wants to go play basketball, I want to go play basketball with him, but I don’t want to be in pain.

The Tom Brady domino effect

Tom Brady will take his seat in Fox’s top NFL announce team alongside Kevin Burkhardt.

And his arrival at the network has set off a domino effect with every other announcer moving down one spot.

That means Fox’s NFL coverage in 2024 will feature entirely new broadcast pairings.

Greg Olsen, who previously worked alongside Burkhardt, will now be part of the No. 2 announce team with Joe Davis.

“So I still focus a lot of time on my physical body and my mental health.”

Brady says he is not following a regimented gym routine.

Rather, he is enjoying the spoils of his outdoor lifestyle in Miami.

“The quality of life in Florida is really nice,” Brady added.

“It’s all the outdoor activities that I love. And then being on the water is great.

“I live on a golf course, which I love just getting out there — even for 20 minutes, just chipping a few balls. I have to be really active.”

He continued: “I’m still like a 14-year-old boy, just got all this energy, and I just go hit a few shots, and then come home and swim, and then work out, and the kids come home.”

Brady has been enjoying the Olympics in Paris this summer as he heads into a new career as a Fox Sports analyst.

The NFL icon will make his Fox Sports broadcast debut in Week 1 of the upcoming NFL season.

His first game on calling duties will be between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns on September 7.
