Steph Curry didn’t suit up for the Warrior’s preseason finale against the Los Angeles Lakers, but will be ready for the NBA opening night Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Stephen Curry sat out the Golden State Warriors’ preseason finale Friday because of a sprained right index finger.
The veteran guard injured his finger at practice Thursday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said ahead of Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kerr made it clear keeping his superstar point guard out is nothing more than being safe.
“It’s not serious, just precautionary,” Kerr explained.
Curry scored 16 points on 6/18 shooting against the Lakers last Tuesday. He also added six assists, five rebounds and two steals. However, even in that game Curry was seen shaking and holding his finger multiple times.
“This is definitely not a dress rehearsal,” Kerr said. “I think we had planned on it, but with Steph going out it’s changed our thinking.”
The Warriors are 5-0 this preseason entering their final game of the exhibition slate. They’ll play the Portland Trail Blazers in the regular-season opener Wednesday night at Moda Center. Curry will be ready for that game, Kerr said.
Curry first was injured against the Sacramento Kings one week ago in a 109-106 Warriors win, when his finger was caught in a jersey. He played only 16 minutes, scoring six points with four assists and three rebounds.
He was then held out of the Warriors’ next preseason game two days later, but did play 28 minutes against the Lakers.
