Stephen Curry and Draymond Green Preview Notable Games on Warriors 2024-25 Schedule

The 2024-25 NBA season is rapidly approaching and Warriors fans can now access single game tickets for all of this season’s marquee matchups.

Read below for Stephen Curry and Draymond Green’s insight on the elite talent that will visit Chase Center this season.

Oct. 27: Warriors vs. Clippers BUY TICKETS
The Warriors will host Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers in their home opener on Oct. 27. In an episode of his ‘Heat Check’ podcast, Stephen Curry revealed that he considers Leonard and Harden to be two of the five greatest players of his era, along with himself, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

“From 2009-2023, I’m going to say obviously myself, LeBron, KD, Kawhi and James [Harden],” Curry said.

Leonard is a two-time NBA champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP, while Harden has won league MVP once with three scoring championships and two assist titles.

Nov. 12: Warriors vs. Mavericks BUY TICKETS
The Dubs will tip-off the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup by hosting the reigning Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 12. The Mavericks added 13-year Warriors legend and Splash Brother Klay Thompson this offseason to pair with their dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. When asked which young next-generation star is up to make their mark on the game, Curry highlighted the league’s reigning scoring champion, Luka Doncic.

“Luka is the guy that’s right on the precipice of accomplishing all those accolades,” Curry told the Gil’s Arena podcast. “When you play against him, you can feel it.”

After winning the Rookie of the Year award in his first NBA season, Doncic has made five straight All-Star and All-NBA teams. With Doncic being very difficult to guard in his own right, Draymond Green considers Kyrie Irving in the same conversation among the league’s most unguardable players.

“You can’t make the game tough for Kyrie,” Green said. “He’s one of the best three-point shooters, one of the best mid-range shooters and arguably the best finisher in the NBA. He has floaters with either hand, can finish with either hand at the rim and can switch and shoot a midrange jump shot with his left hand. There’s actually nothing you can do to stop Kyrie from scoring.”

Irving is a familiar playoff opponent for the Warriors, having faced him in three NBA Finals series. Irving hit a clutch 3-pointer in the final minute of the 2016 Finals to help bring the Cleveland Cavaliers their first championship in franchise history. The other two series were won by his new teammate, Klay Thompson and the Warriors, with Thompson having won four titles in his 13 years with the franchise.

“Even though we won’t finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again,” Curry said on the special bond and success he and Green shared with Thompson. “Couldn’t have imagined a better run with you and [Draymond Green]. Changed the whole Bay Area and the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro.”

Thompson has several NBA records, including the most made 3-pointers in a game (14), the most points in a quarter (37) and the fastest 60-point game (29 minutes).

Nov. 15: Warriors vs. Grizzlies BUY TICKETS
The Dubs’ second and final home game in the ‘Group Play’ round of the Emirates NBA Cup will be against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. Morant already has a Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player and multiple All-Star nods on his resume. In addition to his rare athleticism and skillset, Morant approaches the game with a tenacious mentality. So much so that of all the players in the NBA, Green shared on the ‘Draymond Green Show’ that Morant is the player who most reminds him of himself.

“He [Morant] isn’t backing down from anybody,” Green said. “I believe in myself and my abilities. I’m going to show you that. I’m going to lead. I’m going to talk to you and let you know about it while I’m doing it. I’ll carry others with me and most importantly, do it my way. And all of those things that I just named, I see Ja Morant do.”

Nov. 27: Warriors vs. Thunder BUY TICKETS
The top-seed in the Western Conference in the 2023-24 NBA season — Oklahoma City Thunder — will make their first appearance at Chase Center on Nov. 27. The Thunder are led by MVP and Clutch Player of the Year finalist Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who, with his height, strength and skillset presents opponents with a unique defensive challenge.

“He [Gilgeous-Alexander] gets to his spot just as good as anybody in the league,” Green said. “I didn’t realize how strong he’s gotten. Physical, not ducking any contact.”

Gilegous-Alexander has made the All-NBA First Team in consecutive seasons and has a talented supporting cast, including Rookie of the Year Finalist Chet Holmgren and the fourth-place finisher in the Most Improved Player race, Jalen Williams.

Dec. 6 & 8: Warriors vs. Timberwolves BUY TICKETS
Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves will play at Chase Center twice in the same week, on Dec. 6 and Dec. 8. The Warriors and Timberwolves have had some recent battles, with Curry and Edwards being two of the league’s best guards, Curry and Towns both being arguably the best shooters at their position and Green and Gobert consistently among the league’s best defenders. Edwards and Curry strengthened their bond this summer, winning an Olympic gold medal with Team USA. Green marveled how prominent of a role the youthful guard played despite sharing the court with three generational talents.

“Ant-Man is special,” Green said of Edwards on his podcast. “He continues to grow. What I love most is how Bron, Steph and KD embraced him to be that next young guy up, giving him the keys to the team in a sense.”

Even throughout Edwards’ run leading the Timberwolves to their first conference finals since 2004, Green noticed his desire for greatness.

“He’s hungry, believes that he’s the best and wants to be the best,” Green said.

The 23-year-old guard is still very early on in his journey, making his first All-NBA team this past season.

Dec. 25: Warriors vs. Lakers BUY TICKETS
Christmas Day in the Bay features a marquee matchup between two historic franchises (Warriors and Lakers) and two generational talents (Curry and LeBron James). Curry has the slight edge in head-to-head regular season matchups against James with a 12-11 record. Last season, these two teams played a double-overtime thriller at Chase Center, with Curry scoring a game-high 46 points and James hitting the game-winning free throws.

“You have to reflect on everything that we’ve all gone through since the ’15 Finals and just appreciate the opportunity to have another chapter in that battle and that competition,” Curry said on his lengthy historic competing against James.

Curry and James also got their first extended run together as teammates this summer with USA Basketball. Both players were named to the FIBA’s All-Star Five, recognizing the best players in the Olympics, with James taking MVP honors.

James is entering his 22nd NBA season, which would tie him with Vince Carter for the most in NBA history. In the 2023-24 season, he was named to his NBA record 20th All-NBA team. James’ Lakers co-star, Anthony Davis, was also an All-NBA performer and Olympic Gold Medalist this summer. Davis and Draymond Green are two of 10 active players with at least five All-Defensive Team nods in their career.

Dec. 28: Warriors vs. Suns BUY TICKETS
Also during the holiday season, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns will visit Chase Center on Dec. 28. On opening night of the 2023-24 campaign, Durant played his first game in the Bay with fans in attendance since leaving the Warriors in the 2019 offseason. In their final meeting of that season, Curry hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds left.

“He’s [Durant] an unbelievable talent, unbelievable person,” Curry told the SF Gate about Durant. “We accomplished a lot together.”

In addition to their two NBA championships as teammates, Curry and Durant also won an Olympic gold medal together, giving Durant the most gold medals of any USAB Men’s player ever (4).

“It’s special. He [Durant] is so used to this stage. He’s the all-time leading scorer in USAB for a reason,” Curry said.

Booker also was on the stacked USA Basketball roster, sharing the starting backcourt with Curry. As one of the most productive offensive weapons in the NBA, Booker displayed an ability to complement other great players by being a connector offensively and taking difficult defensive challenges. Head Coach Steve Kerr coined Booker the team’s “unsung MVP.”

Jan. 2: Warriors vs. Sixers BUY TICKETS
The Philadelphia 76ers’ new All-Star trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey will make their Chase Center debut on Jan. 2. George, a nine-time All-Star, is the newest addition, signing in free agency from the Los Angeles Clippers. When George was with the Clippers, he had a memorable moment competing against Curry. On Oct. 21, 2021, a conversation between George and Curry was mic’d up on the NBA on TNT broadcast, in which George prompted Curry to exchange deep shots from the Chase Center logo.

“Make it interesting, I give you one, you give me one,” George told Curry. “I’m from the logo with it.”

Both players splashed in their extremely deep shots in what was a competitive game throughout. Curry finished with a game-high 45 points and the Warriors came away with the two-point win.

A couple of years later, in a Warriors vs. Sixers game at Chase Center, Joel Embiid poured in 46 points and reminded Green of a comment he made about another center being the most difficult player to guard, prompting the performance.

“‘You know why I played like that tonight?” Joel Embiid asked Green. ” You said Joker [Nikola Jokic] was the hardest person to guard in the league, so I took that personally.”

Following Embiid’s dominant outing, Green told the media that Embiid was, in fact, the “hardest cover in the league.”

Jan. 5: Warriors vs. Kings BUY TICKETS
The Warriors will host their Nor-Cal neighbor Sacramento Kings at Chase Center for the first of four regular season meetings on Jan. 5. This matchup will be a battle of clutch time performers as the teams combine for two Clutch Player of the Year winners — Curry and De’Aaron Fox — and another finalist for the award this past season — DeMar DeRozan — who the Kings added this offseason. The Dubs and Kings have faced off in win-or-go-home scenarios in the last two seasons, with Sacramento eliminating the Warriors in the 2024 Play-In Tournament and the Warriors beating the Kings 4-3 in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

After facing the Kings in these postseason battles, Draymond Green has particularly gained respect for Fox and his ability to rise to the occasion in high-leverage moments.

“I’ve lost a lot of respect for guys over the years in the playoffs and then there are some you gain respect for, guys you know are cut from the same cloth and Fox is one of those guys,” Green said.

Jan. 20: Warriors vs. Celtics BUY TICKETS
The reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics have the most titles in NBA history (18) and the seven-time champion Warriors will host them at Chase Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Warriors won their most recent title against Boston in 2022, but led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics reached the mountaintop two years later for the first time since 2008. Despite being competitors between the lines, Green was ecstatic for his Olympic Gold Medal brother.

“To see him do that, I called him and he had the trophy, smiling ear-to-ear,” Green said of Tatum. “He said to me, ‘I don’t know what I thought this was going to feel like, but whatever I thought, it’s way better.’”

Tatum also teamed up with Curry this summer to win another gold medal and was joined by his Celtics teammates, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White. Holiday and White both made the NBA’s All-Defensive Team this past season. It was Brown, however, who was the Celtics’ top performer on the big stage, taking home Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP.
