“I’ve never seen Tom Brady donate to anything”: Jets fans reserve high praise for Aaron Rodgers’ $100,000 Thompson Fire donation

New York Jets fans heaped praise on quarterback Aaron Rodgers for donating money to support victims of the Thompson Fire raging in California. The fire is near Rodgers’ hometown in Northern California and has forced about 28,000 people to evacuate the area.

The fire has burned over 3,500 acres, but luckily no one has died. However, four people have been injured.

With firefighters still working on getting the fire contained, Rodgers donated $100,000 to help wildfire evacuees, which got a favorable response from Jets fans.

“I’ve never seen Tom Brady donate to Anything correct me if I’m wrong,” a fan wrote.

“What a great American, how mad does this make you @ProFootballTalk?!” another fan added.

Jets fans were taking aim at Mike Florio, who has criticized Rodgers in the media whenever he can.

Other fans also wondered if this would be reported as much as when Rodgers missed the minicamp.

“Let’s see if this gets the same media attention him missing 2 days of practice in June did. Jk, we know the answer to that,” a fan wrote.

“But wait, he missed three practices!” a fan added in a tone of irony.

Other fans, meanwhile, praised Aaron Rodgers for donating money when he didn’t have to.

“Credit where due to Rodgers, who has donated to groups helping California wildfire victims before. He generates plenty of snark on this platform; that just is what it is. But wildfires and the harm they cause aren’t going away, and people willing to help deserve thanks,” a fan added.

“Oh but wait I thought he was a terrible person and only cared about himself bunch of clowns,” another fan wrote while taking a potshot at Rodgers’ critics.

Aaron Rodgers doesn’t always get a good press. On this occasion, however, his actions are bound to be admired.

Aaron Rodgers entering 2024 healthy

The New York Jets entered 2023 with a lot of expectations after trading for Aaron Rodgers. However, in the very first game of the season, Rodgers tore his Achilles and ended the year playing just four snaps.

Entering 2024, Rodgers is healthy once again and the Jets are -160 to make the playoffs, which implies a 61.5% chance. Once again, though, the quarterback’s availability would be key. Hopefully, he will get a full season to show off his skills and quality.

The 40-year-old was traded in 2023 to the Jets, after spending 18 seasons with the Packers. At the tail end of his career, he is looking for a last flourish. Will he get it this season?
