Heading towards the start of the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24, the Green Bay Packers have become an intriguing team to watch. No one has any clue what direction they could choose to go with the No. 23 overall pick in the first round.
While the first round is always important, the great teams are also able to connect on their swings in the second and third rounds. Brian Gutekunst needs to add a least a few key impact players in this year’s rookie class.
One major need for the Packers to address in the draft will be the wide receiver position. Adding another quality wide receiver would be very important for Jordan Love’s benefit. Thankfully, there are a lot of talented options to choose from in this year’s draft class.
A new projection has Green Bay landing that weapon for Love in the second round at No. 54 overall.
Green Bay Packers Projected to Add Intriguing 2,100-Yard Wide Receiver
Bill Huber of On SI has released a new seven-round mock draft for the Packers. In the second round of that mock draft, he has the team landing Iowa State standout wide receiver Jayden Higgins.
Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Higgins brings elite size to the field. He would be a big target for Love and he has playmaking potential as well.
During the 2024 college football season with the Cyclones, Higgins racked up 87 receptions for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns. Back in 2023 with Iowa State, he caught 53 passes for 983 yards and six touchdowns.
His production at the college level was impressive. It appears on the outside looking in that his play style should translate well to the NFL.
If he happens to be available when Green Bay is on the clock in the second round at No. 54 and Gutekunst decided to pass on a wideout in the first round, it would be very difficult to pass on bringing him onboard.
