Golden State Warriors told to now trade for All-Star guard to upgrade Podziemski, he can be ‘Steph Curry 2.0’

The Golden State Warriors’ season came to an abrupt end with the team defeated 4-1 in the Western Conference semifinals.

There was a bittersweet feeling to the Golden State Warriors‘ season end, after superstar Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 of their series with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Warriors admirably did not offer this as an excuse for their exit, but it was clear to see how Curry’s injury impacted the competitiveness of the series.

Time is running out for Curry and the Warriors to win a fifth title, with the 37-year-old superstar admitting the team’s window is closing.

The Warriors will look to make moves this offseason, although it remains to be seen if these will be big swings, or tweaks to the roster.

Gilbert Arenas urges Trae Young to Warriors trade

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas believes the answer for the Golden State Warriors is to work out a trade for Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young.

Arenas argues that Trae Young would be an upgrade on Brandin Podziemski in the Warriors system, and notes that he would make Steph Curry even more dangerous.

He believes the pairing could have a devastating impact, with the Warriors setting themselves up for the future by landing a player 11 years younger than Curry.

The former player told Gil’s Arena: “If I’m Golden State there’s probably one team… you could have Trae Young and Curry.

“You already playing Podziemski and Curry. I would rather have a real point guard with a real point guard who can both be twos.

“He can pass, he can score he can look around for Steph. Them two right there with the same firing pen, you would have a hell of a team.

“If you can package someone… with Trae Young you have a Steph 2.0 that’s younger, with Steph there, that backcourt could average 50.”

Trae Young is a true impact maker

Trae Young led the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, but the team have not come close since.

The Hawks fell in the Play-In Tournament this past season, capping a frustrating campaign. This led to speculation about Trae Young’s future, even though the superstar has publicly insisted his commitment to staying in Atlanta.

.

Numbers over the past season show how Steph Curry and Trae Young both averaged 24 points per game, while the Hawks star was prolific in terms of assists.

Young averaged a double-double with 11.6 assists on top of his points scored, and registered 51 double-doubles in 76 games.

For a Warriors package to tempt the Hawks it could involve Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski being used in a trade going in the opposing direction.

Seeing Young in Warriors colors would give him a fresh challenge too, even if he would not currently admit to such a temptation.
