The Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling this season despite a change in coaching. With veterans LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge and young talents like Austin Reaves and rookie Dalton Knecht showing promise, the Lakers have yet to find the right formula for success. While the team has placed significant trust in its current roster, it didn’t make any major moves in the offseason to strengthen it.
Now, the Lakers are reportedly on the lookout for another veteran to help support James and Davis. On a recent episode of “Gil’s Arenas,” former NBA star Gilbert Arenas weighed in on the situation, offering his thoughts on whether Zach LaVine or Jimmy Butler would be the better fit for the Lakers.
During a live reaction video to the Lakers’ loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Arenas was asked who he thought would be a better addition to the team. Without hesitation, he picked the Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine. Arenas shared the importance of consistency, especially during the early stages of games that are behind his choice.
“Zach LaVine… Jimmy Butler, the way he plays now, I’m good. I don’t need another guy who’s just gonna disappear just whenever. Like, I don’t need fourth-quarter Jimmy right now. I need someone that’s gonna get us along. Like, I already got fourth-quarter Bron. That’s gonna be 20 points in the fourth quarter. I don’t need that shit no more,” Arenas said.
Gilbert Arenas Jokes About Bronny James’ Absence During The Los Angeles Lakers Loss To Minnesota
During the live broadcast, Gilbert Arenas jokingly commented on the absence of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James during the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. While his father, LeBron James, played, Bronny remained sidelined, prompting Arenas to ask about his status.
“Where Bronny James at? If I am coach, I’m about to talk to Bronny, ‘Hey man, how’s the heel?’” Arenas asked.
LeBron had a quiet night against the Timberwolves, scoring only 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 29 minutes. With their blowout 109-80 loss to Minnesota, the Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 12-9 this season.
