LeBron James shooting woes continue as Lakers fall to Timberwolves

The last stand against the legacy of ‘Father Time’ was LeBron James‘ unending career dominance. At nearly 40 years old, James’ level of play was unprecedented for a player of his age, with many terming him the only player to withstand the effects of aging.

However, over his last stretch of games, the tide seems to be turning in favor of ‘Father Time’ as the Lakers superstar continues to struggle. On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered a grueling 29-point blowout loss to the unraveling Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Lakers put up a measly 80 points in four quarters of basketball, a feat nearly unprecedented in the modern NBA. At the head of the chain of failure was LeBron James’ continued shooting struggles, which pulled down the team.

After the loss to the Timberwolves, the Lakers fell to a 12-9 record, good for the 8th seed in the Western Conference. A large reason for the Lakers’ recent woes has been James’ regression. He finished the game with just 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, shooting a dreadful 4-16 from the floor.

The standout issue, however, has been James’ shooting woes, as he has shot a woeful 40% from the field over his last six games. His long-distance shooting numbers have been even worse, missing his last 19 three-pointers and shooting a dreadful 10% from three over his last six games. His lackluster play with the ball has also been an issue, averaging nearly four turnovers a game to accentuate his troubles.

Fans crash out as LeBron James draws Michael Jordan comparison

After falling to the Timberwolves, LA Lakers fans are in dire straits. Not only is their team struggling to find any offensive rhythm, but their franchise star may finally be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of one of the greatest careers of all time.

As LeBron James continues to struggle on the offensive end of the floor, many fans took to X to voice their concerns about his career, with some calling out the GOAT comparisons between James and Michael Jordan.

Over his last six games, James has averaged just 16.8 points, 8.7 assists, and 7.5 rebounds, with some calling him out for ‘stat-padding’ his averages. These numbers are still respectable, but for a player of James’ caliber, the Lakers need a lot more than borderline starter-level numbers.

As they gear up to close off their road trip against the Miami Heat and the surging Atlanta Hawks, James and the Lakers will have their hands full as they try to get their season back on track.
