Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb sends simple but clear message about Cooper Rush after Monday Night Football struggles

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had eight catches for 93 yards against the Houston Texans in the team’s Week 11 loss. A decent stat-line, perhaps, but he and everyone watching knows the offense needs more as it continues to struggle in 2024.

However, Lamb isn’t going to feed any quarterback controversy narratives that might be brewing in Dallas in the absence of Dak Prescott. Postgame, Lamb was clear about his chemistry with Rush, shutting down any notion that he isn’t on the same page as the Cowboys quarterback.

“He missed two passes, I want to say, that was as far as behind goes, but the rest were pretty good,” Lamb told reporters. “I feel like he’s going to be better as the season goes and progresses, You could tell he’s gotten better from week one to week two as far as starting, the confidence is there for him.”

Lamb’s endorsement certainly goes a long way, as there are question marks about whether or not Rush will stay in front of the Cowboys offense over Trey Lance. The younger quarterback hasn’t been better than Rush but it’s impossible to wonder if the team would consider playing him over the veteran just for the sake of looking for any sort of spark to win some games or even keep fan interest going.

Despite Lamb backing up Cooper Rush, however, the All-Pro wide receiver is quick to acknowledge the state of the offense and the fact that much more is needed.

“We don’t really have it figured out now and that sucks,” Lamb admitted. “We gotta go out there and play better, get in the end zone, we get in the end zone and we’re having a totally different conversation.”

You’ve got to respect Lamb for playing despite dealing with a back injury and a shoulder injury dating back to Week 9. Despite a 3-6 record, the All-Pro wide receiver is sending the right message by being out there on the field. That only goes so far, though, and fans want more than gritty players finding ways onto the field.

The Cowboys need to win some games. Tanking season might already be under way for many fans but there are seven more games left on the schedule and attendance seems to already be taking a hit. It needs to get better quickly.
