This NFL offseason has seen contracts breaking through the roof, bringing about several new deals that routinely set records and intrigue regarding the future of stars and their upcoming contracts. Especially with the likes of Dak Prescott awaiting his own new deal, renowned analyst Colin Cowherd had a different view on how one should approach their contracts. Citing what 7-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady did.

The longtime analyst was speaking about the Dak Prescott situation while on his show, The Herd. He offered a view as to how winning quarterbacks see contracts.

There's a lot of different ways to make money. Brady took pay cuts because he had confidence in himself and the organization to surround him with championship-level players. Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have also structured team-friendly deals. Winning is the thing in football. Tom Brady never talked about money. Tom Brady simply talked about winning Super Bowls.

Colin Cowherd said

Colin Cowherd essentially says that quarterbacks who want to win have always preferred to take less. They are not looking to be the highest paid if winning is their priority. He gave the example of Tom Brady as no other quarterback has taken less during his playing career in recent memory than him. He won 7 Super Bowls in the process, all because he knew that he was good enough to win, and he would take less so that other good players could join him.

Cowherd wants quarterbacks who want to win, to follow Brady’s lead. Winning now can build into a lifetime of earning respect and money from other sources, as in football, the margin of victory is so small that everyone needs to pitch in.

Dak Prescott is unlikely to follow Tom Brady’s methods

The Dallas Cowboys have mentioned that they want to sign good to great players so that they can win the Super Bowl. But since the contract extension has not been finalized yet, it seems Prescott is not on the same page. It is unsure what figures are being discussed in the offices of America’s team. But one thing is clear.

Dak Prescott does not seem to have any intention of backing down. Else the contract would have been signed by now. The 31-year-old probably knows that the way the team’s structure is, they do not have a chance at winning a Super Bowl anytime soon, or he wants to get his bag and let the franchise handle the rest of the headache.

Whatever the reason may be, Dak Prescott wants the best for himself and his family. There is no way he will make any compromises regarding that. Now it is just a matter of time to see where this entire contract saga heads to.
