Owner Mark Wilf makes bold statement about future of Minnesota Vikings

The future of the Minnesota Vikings is now.

After three years of the Vikings being in a competitive rebuild, they are coming out of that with one of the strongest rosters they’ve had in recent memory.

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has done a great job in fixing the salary cap situation that the Vikings were in prior to his arrival. That has brought the Vikings an immense amount of talent via free agency.

Mark Wilf believes in J.J. McCarthy as Vikings starting quarterback

One reason the Vikings have been able to do that is that J.J. McCarthy is set to take over as the starting quarterback. Not having to pay the quarterback position a market level contract has been the biggest factor in how the roster is as dep as it is.

How good will McCarthy be? That’s certainly up for discussion, but owner Mark Wilf is bought in on him, especially off the field.

“He has a gravitational pull as a leader. He really does. I think that the way the players support him, the talent is there. Coach O’Connell is glowing in his praises of how he’s handled everything today, and from an off-the-field perspective, we couldn’t be happier. So all things are pointing the right direction, and we’re going to be supporting JJ to have him be the success we want him to be.”

It’s one thing to be able to identify talent on the field, but your quarterback has to be a leader off the field as well. McCarthy has shown time and time again during his public appearances that he’s got everything you could want in a leader. He’s calm, collected, honest, and doesn’t place blame.

There have been multiple teammates of McCarthy who have said similar things, and that’s before Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell have said anything, and they praise him as well.

All signs point toward the Vikings being in great hands.
