Does the Golden State Warriors’ perfect start to the preseason indicate another championship this season? An interesting stat suggests so.
The Golden State Warriors continued their perfect preseason run on Tuesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 111-97 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Despite the Lakers’ hot start, Steph Curry and the Warriors took control midway through the first quarter.
Curry, along with Jonathan Kuminga, lead the Dubs’ offense. While Curry finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and three assists, youngster Kuminga tallied 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
The victory over the Lakers extended the Warriors’ preseason winning streak to five games. Remarkably, this is only the fourth time in the past decade that the Dubs have secured five or more preseason victories.
This intriguing statistic has hyped Warriors fans’ hopes ahead of the new season. But why?
Interestingly, during the previous three instances when the Warriors recorded five or more preseason wins, they went on to clinch the championship titles.
The Warriors recorded five or more preseason victories in 2015, 2017, and 2022, the same years they went on to win the championship.
These interesting stats drew mixed reactions from Warriors fans. While few expressed hope, others deemed it as just a coincidence.
