Tom Brady may have retired from playing football, but he’s far from stepping away from the NFL spotlight. In his debut season as FOX’s lead NFL analyst, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is now breaking down game action for millions of fans, and with that comes the responsibility of sharing his insights on the league’s top performers.
As Week 3 of the season approaches, Brady took the opportunity to unveil his top five NFL teams in a segment that surprised many fans. His rankings feature some predictable contenders, but also a few unexpected picks.
Brady’s surprising top five teams
Brady, always a student of the game, offered his personal power rankings this morning, listing the Kansas City Chiefs as the top team, hardly a surprise given their recent dominance. However, what raised eyebrows were the other teams on his list.
Following the Chiefs, Brady placed the Buffalo Bills at No. 2, a team with clear Super Bowl aspirations. But here’s where things get interesting: rounding out his top five are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, and New Orleans Saints.
The inclusion of both the Buccaneers and Texans caught many by surprise. “These teams are off to a great start,” Brady noted, but he reminded viewers that it’s still early in the season, emphasizing that “Super Bowls are not won in September.”
Brady faces his own challenges in the broadcast booth
While Brady is making waves with his football insights, he admits the transition from field to booth hasn’t been easy. During this week’s episode of the “Let’s Go!” podcast, Brady opened up about the challenges of simplifying complex football terminology for a broader audience.
“Anybody can get on there and talk about, ‘In Cover 2, this is what you gotta do, you got to read the high-low,'” Brady explained. “But people won’t understand it if we do that. So we got to find simple ways, and I’ve got to continue to work on that.”
Brady likened his new role as an analyst to being a “rookie” all over again, admitting that he’s still finding his footing. Nonetheless, his vast knowledge of the game is clear, and fans are eager to see how he continues to evolve as a broadcaster.
Back to Dallas for week 3
For the third consecutive week, Brady will be in the booth for a Dallas Cowboys game. This Sunday, he’ll be calling the Cowboys‘ matchup against the Baltimore Ravens alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Erin Andrews.
Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX, and fans can expect more of Brady’s unique insights as he continues to tackle the learning curve of his new role.
