“Greg Olsen didn’t deserve the downgrade” – Tom Brady’s spot in Fox’s broadcast crew turns heads among fans

Tom Brady is set to make his comeback to the gridiron, albeit in a broadcaster role. However, his rise means that former No. 1 Fox Sports commentator Greg Olsen is getting booted to the second-string position.

Soon after he retired, the former New England Patriots QB signed a massive $375 million contract with Fox Sports. However, that contract kicks into action from this season. Brady’s massive contract meant he would be getting the primetime slot.

This not only predicted a positional loss for Olsen but also a massive pay cut of $7 million. Tom Brady will be at the helm of things with Olsen’s former broadcast partners.

“FOX has officially announced their game broadcast crews for the 2024 NFL season:

1. Kevin Burkhardt, Tom Brady, Erin Andrews, Tom Rinaldi.

2. Joe Davis, Greg Olsen, Pam Oliver.”

The official announcement hit fans like a brick wall, and they showed their support for Greg Olsen on X (formerly Twitter).

“Greg Olsen didn’t deserve the downgrade.”

“Greg Olsen deserves better.”

Some fans showed their protest by pointing out the two-time Emmy winner’s skill and camaraderie with Kevin Burkhardt. Meanwhile, Tom Brady is as of now an unproven commodity in the broadcasting arena.

“Greg Olsen and Burkhardt were the best duo in the league,” wrote one fan.

“Olsen getting booted still doesn’t sit well with me. He’s the standard in the business right now,” wrote another fan.

“Olsen has turned into a great color analyst. No. 2 crew is looking good,” tweeted a supporter.

“Greg Olsen is better than Brady and Fox will learn that fast,” tweeted another supporter.

Greg Olsen opens up on demotion due to Tom Brady

In July, Olsen appeared on the ‘SI Media’ podcast and did not shy away from sharing his feelings about the apparent demotion.

“You want to call the best games, the opening games,” said Olsen. “You want to call games to 40 million people, you want to call games on Thanksgiving primetime. You want to call games 4:25 slot.

“I think everybody in the industry does. So yeah, I mean, don’t get me wrong, would you rather call those games? Yes.”

Olsen also pointed out that he is excited to work with a new crew and has no hostility toward Brady or the management at Fox Sports.
