Why Bill Belichick May Not Be Answer For Eagles in 2025

The former Super Bowl winning coach hasn’t succeeded in the NFL without a Hall-of-Fame quarterback with him.

There aren’t many times in NFL history where a Hall-of-Fame coach will become available on the open market, and he would want to coach your team.

For the Philadelphia Eagles, that’s their current reality.

Roseman and Belichick

Despite three seasons of playoff football under Nick Sirianni, the Eagles have looked to upgrade the head coaching position with the likes of eight-time Super Bowl champion coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick parted ways with the Patriots after the 2023 season, and was unable to find another head coaching role throughout the entire coaching carousel last year.

The Eagles remained a team Belichick remains heavily interested in, though.

Should things go south in 2024, though, Belichick may not be the answer the Eagles are looking for to turn things around in a veteran-heavy locker room. Since Tom Brady left the Patriots after the 2019 season, New England hasn’t won a playoff game, and they have gone 29-38 since.

Belichick is also just 82-98 as a head coach outside of Brady being his quarterback – including his days in Cleveland.

There’s no guarantee that Belichick as a head coach can be the same type of leader he was in New England when he had the best quarterback in the league at his disposal.

It’s why he may not be the best answer for the Eagles if they choose to move on from Sirianni this season.
