The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the NFL’s most popular teams since their inception in 1960. The team has had stars such as Ezekiel Elliot, Dak Prescott, Deion Sanders, and even Roger Staubach play for them.
They have a great draft history, as Prescott was a fourth-round pick for the Cowboys in 2016. But NFL Media has somehow come up with a crazy theory about the team’s 2024 draft selections that seems absolutely outlandish.
FS1 host Colin Cowherd has proposed that the Jerry Jones-led Dallas Cowboys are purposely sabotaging Dak Prescott before his 2024 contract season to bring down the price that he may be asking for in his contract extension.
Are The Dallas Cowboys Sabotaging Dak Prescott?
Cowherd put himself in Jerry Jones’ shoes, devising and explaining his theory: “We’re rebuilding the offensive line. You’ll get protection. But in your contract year, the last thing I’m going to do is load you with weapons.
It should be noted that the Cowboys only brought in one receiver during the 2024 NFL Draft. They took Southeast Missouri State receiver Ryan Fournoy in the sixth round with the 216th overall pick. It’s an interesting theory, but Jones has come out and said straight up that they want to be competitive.
Prescott has also hinted at signing a team-friendly contract with the Cowboys, but if another team has the funds to offer the Pro Bowler another nice payday, the cap-strapped Cowboys cannot do much.
After a tough finish to last season, losing to the Green Bay Packers in the Wildcard round, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to rebound this season after a tough off-season. If Dak can have an outstanding season, anything is possible, but things aren’t looking good for “America’s team.”
