Couple are concerned about the negative impact of the possible development
Stephen Curry and wife Ayesha
tephen Curry is one of the most recognizable people in the United States, as he has done incredible things on the basketball court and has worked tirelessly with charitable endeavors away from it.
However, his reputation has taken somewhat of a knock as a result of both he and his wife opposing a multi-family housing development that was due to be built near their home in California.

The pair currently occupy a mansion in California whilst Curry continues his career with the Golden State Warriors, based nearby, yet the couple have raised concerns over their safety if the development is to go ahead.
Curry’s letter of opposition to the housing development
“As Atherton residents, we have been following along with the housing element updates with special interest in the 23 Oakwood property,” the Currys‘ letter of opposition read.
“We hesitate to add to the ‘not in our backyard’ rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today’s meeting.
“Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home.”
American residential developments can be difficult
What is clear is that Curry isn’t the only local resident who has voiced concerns about the planned development.
Of course, it is natural that when you have an affluent area with celebrities, the idea of lower-income families arriving in a development is going to cause concerns.
The USA is rapidly losing space for such developments, hence why they are starting to encroach on private properties such as the one owned by the Curry family.
According to Forbes, the median price of homes in Atherton is over seven million dollars, which ranks as among the five most expensive zip-codes in the nation.
