Experts have discovered many strange, mysterious and scary creatures such as “monsters” at the bottom of the ocean in the famous documentary Blue Planet II.

Blue Planet is a nature documentary, filming many seas in many places around the world. True footage of strange sea creatures surprises many people, opening up a strange, unique and unusual marine world.

The film was broadcast on the famous BBC and was a huge hit. Below are strange creatures, dubbed “monsters” in the ocean with unusual abilities and characteristics.

1. The “sea cucumber” monster

Sea cucumbers are mysterious creatures, discovered in 2007. They have magically opaque skin, so much so that internal organs are clearly visible on the outside.

You can observe the entire digestive process as well as the internal body movements of sea cucumbers because of their unusual appearance and structure.

This creature lives at a depth of 2,500 meters in the Celebes Sea, located between the Philippines and Indonesia. Some types of sea cucumbers, also known as sea cucumbers, even contain deadly venom.

2. Chimaera or ghost shark

The ghost shark (Chimaera) is a very rare blind fish, related to sharks and rays. This mysterious fish can grow nearly 2 meters long. Chimaera inhabit almost all oceans, except the Antarctic region.

Possessing a strange, unusual and mysterious shape with wing-shaped fins, the head and face also contain many sensory cells, helping ghost sharks easily sense movement in the water and accurately position themselves. prey location thanks to special sensors on the nose.

This creature often crawls on the seabed and moves by flapping its fins like wings. Therefore, scientists rarely encounter ghost sharks even though they have heard about them for a long time.

They live in very deep layers of the ocean, approximately 380 – 2,600m below the seabed.

In addition, male ghost sharks even possess special, retractable genitalia on their foreheads. Unlike their scary relatives, ghost sharks often eat insects, mollusks… For researchers, ghost sharks are still mysterious and very rare sea “monsters”.

 3. Goblin Shark

Goblin shark, also known as goblin shark. They are considered prehistoric monsters, the only surviving members of the Mitsukurinidae family – dating back more than 125 million years. Goblin once appeared “briefly” in the documentary ” Legends of the Deep “.

As a shark that lives in the deep sea, Goblin has an extremely ugly and scary appearance with a long nose like a bird’s beak.

Furthermore, the goblin shark also has a pink body and scary sharp teeth with the ability to crush food. This animal can scare many people from the first time they see it.

4. Viperfish: Scary fish with transparent eyes

Viperfish is a fish found at a depth of about 4,500 meters. This creature scares many people with its big transparent eyes, long sharp teeth and fierce face… They are considered one of the scariest creatures on the ocean floor.

Viper fish has a flashing glowing belly that attracts the curiosity of its prey. They are considered ferocious predators with long, sharp hooked teeth and a large, scary mouth.

5. “Faceless” fish

The faceless fish belongs to the moray eel (cusk-eel) family, with the scientific name Typhlonus nasus. They were found by Australian researchers during an exploration on the east coast of the country in May 2017.

What surprises many people is that this fish has a strange shape, with no face even though it has a nose and mouth. Therefore, many people call them faceless fish or faceless fish.

The strange thing is that even their eyes and mouth are deep below, very difficult to see. Faceless fish often live at depths of more than 4,000 meters below the seabed.

6. Water bear beetle

Even though its body length is no more than 0.5mm, the water bear beetle surprises many people with its ability to survive indefinitely in all extreme living environments. They can survive and thrive even in places that are “inhospitable” to life.

Accordingly, this small creature can live well in temperatures as cold as -200 degrees Celsius or as hot as 150 degrees Celsius. Even in the scary environment of space, tardigrades still lay eggs and grow healthily.

Most organisms will stop metabolism when subjected to pressure of 30 MPa. Even though bacteria have strong vitality, they cannot withstand levels exceeding 300 Mpa. However, tardigrades can still survive, withstanding pressure levels of up to 600 Mpa.

Besides, the pressures from solar radiation, ultraviolet rays, nuclear radiation… do not hinder the “immortal” vitality of this creature.

Water bears can even survive normally without food or water for more than 30 years.

7. Devil’s Squid

Although almost harmless, the demon squid or vampire squid (Vampire Squid) has a scary appearance, giving many people “creeps” when they see it.

Devil squid mainly lives at a depth of 1,000m below the seabed. They have many incredibly strange characteristics. Specifically, demon squid has the ability to “master” disguise to deceive and hide from enemies.

The demon squid’s body secretes many luminescent substances, allowing them to glow and change colors appropriately and flexibly with the surrounding environment. The demon squid also has the ability to regulate light to attract prey closer.

8. Coffinfish (box puffer fish)

Coffinfish (or Coffinfish) is a marine species that lives on the bottom of the sea almost everywhere in the world. They are small, venomous fish and about 10cm long. People seem to see pufferfish walking on the seabed rather than swimming because of their lower fins.

Although it is a small fish, the pufferfish can frighten its enemies with its unique way of defending itself. Like the pufferfish, the pufferfish can swallow a large amount of water and cause its body to suddenly increase in size and swell rapidly, causing other animals to panic and not dare to attack.
