A 27-year-old woman from Texas has undergone a huge transformation since she was a teenager, spending around $21,980 (£20,000) on tattoos and body modifications.

A woman has revealed she suffers crippling headaches after implanting horns in her forehead.

Luna Fay, 27, said people often refer to her as a “devil”, but she sees the funny side even if one person stopped in the street to scream at her.

The Texas woman says she believes her new look is worth around $21,980 (£20,000).

This included body modifications as well as a whole range of tattoos – so many, in fact, that she doesn’t bother counting them anymore.

She said: “I’ve let people practice on me and have a lot of tattoo friends who just wanted to do something on me.

“I got my first tattoo when I was 18, but started doing stick and pokes when I was about 13 and piercing my own ears with safety pins.”

Luna has four body modifications, including the sub-dermal implants on her forehead which have recently been made bigger.

As a result, the pressure on her head has increased headaches that require “intensive aftercare”.

Implants like Luna’s tend to be made of silicon and the permanent shape is made once the skin heals over the correct place. As well as the devil horns, she also has a split tongue ad her ears notched.

With such an extreme transformation, not everyone is so accepting o Luna’s choices, but she insists the reactions she gets are mostly positive.

“I get weird looks now and again but for the most part, it has all been very positive,” she explained.

“I try to surround myself with people who support me and the way I want to outwardly look.”

Other parts of Luna’s look include scarification, which is when the skin is cut into to create a permanent look – hers is a crescent moon on her forehead – branded onto the skin.

As a child, Luna had difficulty fitting in and feeling comfortable in her own skin.

It was around the age of 14 that the “shy quiet kid” realised she would be able to significantly change the way she looked to try and feel more comfortable about herself.

At 18 she got her first tattoo, and has said that her body art has helped her find a community of like-minded individuals who understand her “shared pain”.

“I kept to my art and focused on doing my own thing. I never really felt comfortable in my own skin growing up” she said.

“I had body issues that made me feel insecure and over-sexualized at a young age.

“Getting introduced to the BMEs, a group to support body mods and piercings, at 14 I realized I can change the way I looked in an extreme way to make me feel comfortable in my own skin.”

The body-change enthusiast still has plans for the future and her transformation is not done yet.

She added: “I’d say I’m only 30% of where I want to be. I don’t think I’ll ever really be done adding to myself. Besides tattoos here and there, my next big mod will hopefully be my scalera tattoos.

“Never let someone tell you you can’t be you.”
