Spending half a billion tattoos like “ghosts”, the 30-year-old girl was exorcised in public: It took 12 years to complete, people were “haunted”

Tattoo art is now a subject that is gradually being accepted by society with a more positive view, but there are still antiquated and antiquated notions imposed and stigmatized against people with tattoos, even also use harsh words or do extreme actions with these people.

DeeDee Villegas (30 years old in the Philippines) is a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of San Carlos. At this school, not only she owns a special appearance covered with tattoos, but even the students in the same department also show many other different personalities. However, this has caused DeeDee to encounter many troubles from people around or work.

“When I feel extremely emotional, depressed or anxious, tattoos become my way of coping. Those transient emotions didn’t last long and I got treatment to overcome my depression, but the tattoos were permanent. I decided to invest in them more and longer when taking a course on art appreciation, on the rich historical significance of tattoos ,” DeeDee shared.

Despite many challenges, DeeDee has not stopped working to fight this stigma for many years. And until now, although there is not 100% support for tattoos, it seems that things have improved a bit, or the Philippines has gradually accepted LGBTQ members.

She added that people with tattoos now are not the problem that makes them unemployed anymore. “The professions that tattooists can apply for are thriving. In the past, people with visible tattoos were not interviewed in person, but that has changed ,” DeeDee said.

Not only in the Philippines but many other countries also have special places that discriminate against people with tattoos, not far away but also in Vietnam. In the past, people with tattoos were often brave and courageous warriors, but today many people use tattoos to become the number of cheeks and gypsies.

It is sad for those who see tattooing as an art, because many people use tattoos to do bad things, tarnishing this beautiful art.
