Recent Chiefs SB Champion Cut After Floundering With New Team

The Kansas City Chiefs have won three Super Bowls over the past six seasons and they’ve made a lot of names in the process. Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have become first-ballot Hall of Famers thanks to their Super Bowl rings and other players have flocked to Kansas City to get their hands on the Lombardi Trophy.

While some have used the Chiefs to cement their legacy, there are others who have used it to get another opportunity in the NFL. One former player that won a Super Bowl in Kansas City left for greener pastures last offseason but is now looking for another shot after last season didn’t go his way.

Former Chiefs DT Neil Farrell Waived By Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins announced that they have waived former Chiefs defensive tackle Neil Farrell in a flurry of moves on Thursday morning. Farrell appeared in seven games for the Dolphins last season but didn’t make much of an impact with two total tackles and a quarterback hit.

It’s the latest in a string of short stops for a player that was originally selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Farrell began his career by making 12 total tackles and a tackle for loss in his rookie year but was traded to the Chiefs in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick as Las Vegas made its final roster cuts for the 2023 season.

Farrell played just three regular season games for the Chiefs, but appeared in a pair of playoff games in 2023, making a tackle and a pass defense in Kansas City’s 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers. Farrell couldn’t make the team the following offseason and signed with the Dolphins practice squad last September and was promoted to the active roster in November.

After his latest release, the 26-year-old is back on the free agent market without an obvious destination. But perhaps the shine of his Super Bowl ring will help him land another opportunity ahead of the 2025 season.
