Have the Packers made another move?

The Green Bay Packers spent Day 3 of the NFL Draft adding depth to the front seven, but they might not be done.
Well, based on one social media post. Former eighth-overall pick Isaiah Simmons, who has experience at linebacker and safety, visited the Packers before the draft. His latest post on X (formerly Twitter) has caught the attention of the fans.
Simmons posted this emoji, which is officially named a “mouse trap emoji.” It could mean anything, but let’s be honest: it just looks like a cheese in a box.

A cheese emoji is the equivalent of the Bat Signal to Packers fans. It has the fan base wondering whether he was dropping a subtle hint about a free-agency move.
Isaiah Simmons’ cryptic post has caught Packers fans’ attention
Simmons was in Green Bay for a visit less than two weeks ago, so the timing is interesting. The Packers hardly loaded up on linebacker depth in the NFL Draft, outside of Oklahoma State’s Collin Oliver, who is more of a hybrid edge/linebacker. It’s unclear what role he will play in Jeff Hafley’s defense.
Hafley’s 4-3 system requires good linebacker depth, and the Packers lost Eric Wilson to the Minnesota Vikings in free agency.
Green Bay did re-sign Isaiah McDuffie and brought back Kristian Welch, but there’s undoubtedly room for another linebacker on the roster. Simmons could fill that role, and his versatility would appeal to the Packers.
In five NFL seasons, Simmons has made 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, five interceptions, and nine forced fumbles.
He can also play on special teams. Wilson led Green Bay in special teams snaps last season, and Simmons could help fill the void.
Are we reading too much into an emoji? You bet. Does it mean he is signing with the Packers? No. But the team did meet with him earlier this month, and it would make a lot of sense. If it happens, just remember this great investigative work.
