Jordan Love’s perfect response ahead of the NFL Draft shows why it’s so refreshing to have him leading the Packers

The 2021 NFL Draft was a wild experience for the Green Bay Packers fans. A few hours before the first round, ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that quarterback Aaron Rodgers wanted out and was unhappy with the franchise. The whole draft experience got screwed.

Things are in a much different place right now. While Rodgers is considering his next destination and trashing the New York Jets after two years there, Jordan Love is showing why he is the perfect leader on the field for the Packers.

Asked about how he shares his message to the leaders of the franchise about what he wants, Love explained that he is able to express his feelings and desires, at the same time in which he doesn’t interfere in the process.

“Everybody’s got thoughts and opinions. The Packers do a great job. We talk with Gutey (Brian Gutekunst), the GM, and Matt (LaFleur), and we talk after the season, what directions we feel like we need to go in for next season,” Love said on The Up and Adams Show. “And then I kind of just let them do their thing. They’re the pros at this, at going through the draft process, interviewing all these guys, and just figuring out who’s going to be a good player fit, but also just a good locker room fit for the team. That’s a huge part to it, guys that come in are ready to learn and ready to compete, and be great teammates. So I kind of let them handle their business.”

Jordan Love has been in San Diego, California, doing private work before attending the Packers’ voluntary offseason program.

“I’m really just looking forward to getting back, OTAs are around the corner,” Love added. “I’ve been grinding this offseason, been down here in San Diego, working on the field, working on a lot of different things, as far as footwork and just getting back to throwing the ball, and enjoying this process. But I’m looking back, again, getting with my guys, getting with the team, putting that work in during OTAs to get us ready for the season.”

Despite what could be called an underwhelming collective season last year, Love trusts the roster to have a better performance in 2025.

“I’m not worried about us being slept on, I know what type of team we are,” Love mentioned. “I know who we got in that locker room. And like I said, I’m excited to get back to work with those guys.”

Love gives the Packers a sense of calm, balance, and peace that is hard to find at the quarterback position. This, combined with his on-field level, was exactly what the Packers needed.
