Green Bay Packers Predicted to Bring in Intriguing Defender in 2025 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers currently hold the No. 23 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. With the first round scheduled to begin on April 24, there is not much time left for them to finalize their plan.

Brian Gutekunst has many different direction he could choose to go. He could opt to take a wide receiver, a pass rusher, or even a cornerback. However, there is no predicting where Gutekunst’s mind is at during any given moment.

Should they choose to go the cornerback route, especially if they’re going to move on from Jaire Alexander, there are a few different options to keep an eye on.

A new prediction has been made that would see the Packers landing an intriguing defensive back.

Kyle Dvorchak of NBC Sports has released a new mock draft. He has Green Bay selecting Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston with the No. 23 overall pick.

“Jaire Alexander is, at best, on thin ice with the Packers and on the way out at worst,” he wrote. “He has struggled to stay healthy for years and Green Bay’s front office has seemingly grown tired of his unavailability. Even if he remains with the Packers for another year, Green Bay needs a long-term plan at corner. Hairston is an elite playmaker with six interceptions and three pick-sixes to his name in less than two full seasons as a starter.”

So far this offseason, the Packers have already brought in Nate Hobbs in free agency. However, Hobbs will not be able to replace Alexander straight up by himself.

Hairston and Hobbs together could actually end up improving the Green Bay defense.

During the 2024 college football season at Kentucky, Hairston racked up 19 tackles, two forced fumbles, an interception, a defensive touchdown, a sack, and four defended passes in just five games played.

Back in 2023, he totaled 66 tackles, a forced fumble, five interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, and six defended passes.

It will be interesting to see what the Packers choose to do in the first round. Hairston would be a very tough player to pass on if he’s available.
