“Just like his father” – Bronny James records career high for Lakers and turns heads

Bronny James stole the headlines lately for his recent masterclass in the G-League for his side, the South Bay Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers drafted rookie Bronny James as their 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. However, Bronny has not performed up to NBA standards ever since the 2024-25 season began. Due to this, he was moved to the G-League to develop his game further before joining the main squad in the NBA. Regarding this, James Jr. has garnered much attention after his recent performance in the G-League.

In his eagerly anticipated comeback, Bronny James made an impression on the South Bay Lakers on Saturday night as they defeated the San Diego Clippers 119–11. James recorded a career-high 16 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block in his first game since Nov. 17. Only recently did he recover from a left heel injury. He also shot 6-of-15 from the floor.

The Lakers overcame a 35–24 deficit in the first quarter and went into halftime with a one-point lead.
James had a good plus-minus on the floor of plus-nine in the first half and finished with 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting, two rebounds, and one assist. This led to one NBA fan comparing him to his father, LeBron James. The fan wrote on X, “Bronny James coast to coast just like his father!”

James entered Saturday’s game with an average of 5.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, his third of the G-League season. Next Thursday, the South Bay Lakers will travel to Tempe to play the Valley Suns, while on Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers will host the Portland Trailblazers.

Fans left ecstatic after Bronny James’ strong performance in G-League

Bronny James has garnered widespread attention from the NBA and basketball community for his recent performance in the G-League. James Jr. dropped a career-high 16 points for the South Bay Lakers. James last participated in a G League game on November 17 against the Stockton Kings. Since then, the 20-year-old has been out due to a left knee injury, thus this game versus the Clippers was his first in three weeks.

Many fans took to various social media apps to put forward their views and thoughts regarding the Los Angeles Lakers rookie. One fan wrote on X, “All apart of the process” while another fan wrote on X, “W Bronny.” Check out some of the reactions below:

James’ approach to the basket is commendable. Given that the outside shot isn’t falling, he should do that more frequently. James is now 0-10 for the season after going 0–4 from three against the Clippers. The former USC guard needs to play according to his strengths because it is now obvious that he is not a decent long-range shooter.
