Michael Jordan stands next to a 12-foot bronze statue of himself unveiled outside the United Center in Chicago.

Michael Jordan’s statue reveal on November 1, 1994, marked a monumental occasion in sports history, celebrating the legacy of one of basketball’s greatest players. Officially titled “The Spirit”, the statue was unveiled just months after Jordan retired from the NBA for the first time in October 1993.



The ceremony took place at the United Center, the Bulls’ new home after moving from the Chicago Stadium.

• It featured Bulls executives, teammates, and fans, as well as Jordan himself. Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf and General Manager Jerry Krause praised Jordan’s achievements.
