NFL analyst believes Davante Adams will serve as Tom Brady-Antonio Brown solution to Jets’ problems

Davante Adams has been a rumored target for the New York Jets for a long time. The dismissal of head coach Robert Saleh could be seen as a deterrent for acquiring the veteran wide receiver.

Former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky believes this could be a great opportunity for New York to trade for Adams. After being questioned by a fan on X, Orlovsky said he believed Adams’ addition to the team could be similar to when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Antonio Brown.

Orlovsky said Brown added a fourth option at the wide receiver position for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. The Jets don’t have that option at the wide receiver position.

“Yes. Just like when Brady got AB. When you have a standstill offense you have to have 4 guys who can just beat the defense alone. The Jets don’t right now,” Orlovsky wrote on X.

Orlovsky believes having four solid wide receivers will give the New York Jets offense an opportunity to make plays against opposing defenses.

A trade to the New York Jets would also mean a reunion with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The two former Green Bay Packers teammates have expressed interest in playing on the same team, although nothing has been said of the trade speculation in recent days.

Raiders expect to trade Davante Adams soon

Wide receiver Davante Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders last week. The team is reportedly active in trade talks.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz shared on X that sources have told him that the deal is likely to be done “sooner rather than later” and that while the situation is urgent, they still want to get a good return for the wide receiver.

“The #Raiders’ preference as an organization is to get a Davante Adams trade done “sooner rather than later,” per multiple sources. But the Raiders aren’t going to do just any deal, and their preference has been not to take on any of the money remaining on Adams’ contract. Expect things to ramp up this week,” Schultz wrote on X.

According to Schultz, the Raiders don’t want to retain the wide receiver’s contract and also get a second-round pick in trade.
