Rob Gronkowski calls for Davante Adams trade back to ex-teammate Aaron Rodgers amid growing rumors

Davante Adams reportedly asked the Las Vegas Raiders to trade him and now speculation has grown on which team could be his next destination. Super Bowl-winning tight end Rob Gronkowski is one of many who gave his thoughts on which NFL team would be the right fit for the wide receiver.

On Wednesday’s episode of “Up and Adams,” Gronkowski told host Kay Adams that he feels the New York Jets would be the best fit. Gronkowski said that a reunion with Aaron Rodgers would not only be the best for both players but also for competition in the NFL.

“Another team would be the New York Jets, obviously, teaming up with Aaron Rodgers. I think that would actually be the best fit. And I think that would be the best fit for the NFL as a whole as well. And it’d be the best fit for fans. I would love to see him to go back to the Jets and be with Aaron Rodgers again. I mean that that combo was unbelievable,” Gronkowski said.

The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly asking for a second-round draft pick in return for Adams. Adams and Rodgers played together on the Green Bay Packers from 2014 until 2021. The wide receiver was then traded to the Raiders in March 2022.

NFL Insider shared insight into Raiders trading Davante Adams

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared on Wednesday morning some insight on what would need to happen for the Raiders to trade Davante Adams. He believed that a reworked contract would be included, but not impossible for the Raiders to figure out.

“The Raiders are at least open to this for the right deal. It would likely be expensive. Obviously, you’ll have to rework Davante Adams’ contract for the 2025 season. Surely it’s conceivable,” Rapoport said.

Rapoport continued:

“There are a couple of options here. He could end up staying with the Raiders. I know that’s something several members of the organization would like, but is also a possibility that one of the best receivers we’ve seen over the course of the last decade heads elsewhere before the trade deadline.”

Rumors of the wide receiver being traded have circulated since last season. Davante Adams’ trade request came just days after Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce like a social media post that insinuated Adams would likely be traded.
