Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons reassured fans he wouldn’t be off the field for too long after suffering a high-ankle sprain against the New York Giants on Thursday.
Parsons said “he’ll be okay” and that it’s “just a small injury.”
“I’m just thankful because it could have been worse,” he said. “People thought it was worse and I’m just happy it is what it is. It’s a sprain, nothing too serious, and I’ll be back playing.”

Parsons suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s win when Giants guard Greg Van Roten came down hard on his lower leg. He exited the game and underwent X-rays shortly after. An MRI on Friday revealed the injury.
Dealing with an injury is unchartered territory for Parsons. The fourth-year player has missed just one game his entire career, which was due to illness rather than an injury.
“It’s just frustrating, for real,” Parson said, per DallasCowboys.com’s Patrik Walker. “You put a lot of energy into getting ready and being there for the team, so being out, this hurts me because I’m letting people down. I’m just letting people down. I figured myself invincible for a while.
“It’s humbling. It’s part of the test that I was talking about. It’s faith. Gotta come back strong.”
Parsons’ status is listed as week-to-week, though Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said the team is “preparing to play without him” ahead of their Week 5 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.
Luckily Dallas has a bye week soon, getting a week off after its Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions. The timeframe would give Parsons some extra time to get back on the field should he still be sidelined by then.
