‘Candid’ Bill Belichick compares Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to the legendary duo of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice

Bill Belichick drew parallels between the legendary NFL duo of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice to this era’s Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

When one spends more than two decades in the NFL, one sure learns a thing or two. And it seems like using that knowledge, former head coach Bill Belichick has been making headlines for drawing parallels between the legendary NFL duo of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice to this era’s Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb

Belichick opened up about his experience facing Montana and Rice in the 49ers, highlighting their formidable synergy on the football field. On that note, he added that the Cowboys’ Lamb and Prescott resemble a similar synergy and have the potential to be great in the league.

I sit back and think about a lot of Tuesdays that I had trying to stop [Joe] Montana and [Jerry] Rice. Those were the two guys in San Francisco, [CeeDee] Lamb and [Dak] Prescott– those were the two guys I was talking about with the Cowboys.

The Cowboys’ strong offensive strategy is majorly dependent upon Lamb and Prescott’s connection as their chemistry on the football field becomes unbeatable most of the time, matching each other’s prowess. This has come just a week filled with anticipation for the Cowboys in the coming season, as they are facing against the Cleveland Brown in the season-opening game.

Bill Belichick believes Dak Prescott can reach elite status

While highlighting the three-time Pro Bowler quarterback’s potential with his star wide receiver Lamb, the former New England Patriots head coach showered high praises on Prescott. He compared the Cowboys’ QB performance pretty much to the NFL legend Montana.

[Dak] Prescott last year, under Mike McCarthy’s kind of new offense where Mike took over the play calling, Mike kind of re-instilled some of his West Coast philosophies from Green Bay. 4,500 yards and 105 quarterback rating. Bill Belichick said

The 72-year-old threw light on Prescott’s phenomenal season in 2023, where he led his team to the playoffs as the second-seeded team in the NFC. Though he failed to perform well in the playoffs, Belichick argued that if Prescott maintained his performance and production like last season, it would be quite difficult to beat the Cowboys.

On Sunday, the Cowboys expressed their confidence in their star quarterback by extending him a mega-contract worth $240 million, including $231 million in guaranteed money. With an annual earning of $60 million, Prescott has indeed become the highest-paid quarterback in the league’s history, as many predicted. Though he was already eager to end the team’s Super Bowl drought, his new deal has given him the motivation needed to achieve that goal. His determination was quite evident in the season-opening game, where the Cowboys delivered a strong performance, defeating the Browns 33-17
