What in the world would cause Tom Brady, with his seven Super Bowl victories in his 23 majestic NFL seasons, to harbor regrets?
It’s not a “what.” It’s a “who.”

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots quarterback tells The Pivot podcast that if it was at all possible, he might like one do-over – and that Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is the “who” who makes him even think about such a thing.
“When I see these young players, I see like Patrick out there at quarterback, running around, laughing, having fun, I’m like, ‘I used to be like that!'” Brady said. “I just got too serious.”
Brady is speaking specifically about later in his career, when the expectations were sky-high for him and his teams.
“I can only look back and think, ‘OK, if I do it again, which I’ll never do it again, I would be different.’ But the reality is, you can’t.”
So “more joy” would be the difference wish? Something like that, as Brady explained.
“I wouldn’t say I took the success for granted. Maybe I took some of the wins for granted, like in the playing career,” he said. “When I got older, I would enjoy practice more than the games because I felt like I had such high expectation in the game. In practice, no one was watching. I could have a little more fun. I could be a little more lighter.
“(But) even when I look at myself later in my career, I had this face — it was a scowl — all the time. It was me just being super self-critical.”
And so, as he moves into his FOX TV career as an ex-player, the moral to the Brady story?
“Now, next phase in life, enjoy it a little more,” Brady said.
