Former classmates Jason Tatum and Matthew Tkachuk are now both champs

After a fiercely contested Game 7 victory over the Oilers, the Florida Panthers have won their first Stanley Cup as a team. It happens soon after the Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship, and both teams are centred around an incredible friendship.

Since their time at Chaminade Prep School in the St. Louis suburbs, Jason Tatum of the Celtics and Matthew Tkachuk of the Panthers have been close friends. Matthew is the son of the renowned Keith Tkachuk, who desired to play in the NHL like his father. Tatum, a gifted basketball player, became friends with Tkachuk.

Tatum prepared a silly video for Tkachuk as part of a project for school, and the two spent time together, pushing each other.

In the 2016 NHL Draft, the Flames selected Tkachuk with the sixth overall pick, while the Celtics selected Tatum with the third overall pick in 2017. They have now both won titles in the same year, less than ten years later.
