Signed a unique signature agreement with Chinese shoe brand by Mavericks player Kyrie Irving, who is also Drederick’s dad

As we speak, Irving will be donning the uniform for the Boston Celtics in what will be his fourth NBA Finals series, all in the pursuit of a second Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Irving started his week in an unusual way, but the series is about to begin on Thursday.

Based on what Shams Charania said on Tuesday, he reportedly signed his dad, Drederick, to his shoe line with the Chinese brand Anta.

Drederick, an Australian basketball player, is reportedly the first person to sign their own dad to their shoe company; he is also the first person signed to his son’s line.

It seems like Irving confirmed the news not long after that when he retweeted it with the message “Tribe.”а fаn even tweeteԀ, “This is whоlesоme cоntent right here.” It seems like fаns reаlly enjоyeԀ this unexpecteԀ bit оf gооԀ news.

“Drederick 1’s gоnnа gо crаzy,” а secоnd persоn stаted.

“Perfect present for dad,” someone else chimed in.

Four people made light of the situation, with one commenting, “Wow, he should sign his son Jayson Tatum next” (referring to the Celtics standout). As per Charania’s claim, Foot Locker will allegedly have Drederick’s sneakers for sale in September.

Following his release from Nike in December 2022, Irving announced in July 2023 that he had inked a five-year contract with Anta. His announcement as Chief Creative Officer of Anta was a source of great pride for him, and he shared the news via Twitter.

It’s a privilege to have them as part of my A11Even clan, just as they are part of my Anta family.

“In my role as Chief Creative Officer, I will champion the growth of our teams both at home and abroad, seeking out visionaries who can inspire others to follow in their footsteps and revolutionize the footwear and apparel sector for future generations.

After everything that has happened, I will not take this full circle moment for granted or fail to enjoy it.

“This partnership is for all of those who want to change the world.”

The first pair of Irving-designed sneakers, the Kai 1, were unveiled in March of 2024.Among its athletes is Kenenisa Bekele, who has won gold medals in track and field in the Olympic Games three times.

On Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, Irving will return to the court as the Mavericks open a series against the Celtics at TD Garden.
