A PLUS-sized fashion fanatic on TikTok spilled the tea on how she made dresses look and feel less “frumpy” on her.
Her two adjustments target those in need of a midi-length dress makeover.

In the first of a series of TikToks, @im_alicia_ shared her dilemma.
“When the outfit you planned in your head and waited a week before the event to order just arrived 3 days from the event isn’t giving you what you need it to give” was the caption of her first video.
By playing with a belt and a pop of color, Alicia embarked upon a styling journey to save the look in time for the big day.
Fellow fashion fans rushed to aid her in solving the challenge.
“That ain’t me,” when users suggested she jazz up a dress with stilettos, and opted to take on their challenge of adding a belt instead.
The belt snatches Alicia at the waist, and she noted “the belt did add shape, it did.”
Alicia was still hesitant about the styling results, so she finally donned a pair of heels for viewers.
“I added some heels, added a belt. It’s giving sexy mortician,” she remarked about her black, sheer dress.
While she was delighted with the results, she said she was first and foremost seeking comfort from her attire, because she would be “emceeing/ hosting” an event.
“I know these shoes is gonna expire.”
In an effort to further spice up the dress, she added a pop of red underneath.
“Just to see if adding color underneath would do a little something, I added this red dress that I already have.”
While just the red itself makes a notably flattering difference in the styling, she maintained her stance that the shape and cut of the dress don’t work on her as-is.
Finally, she kept both the belt and the pop of color.
Another unexpected change she recommended was getting the piece tailored.
“That already changes it,” she said hiking it up to various shorter lengths in the mirror.
While her journey revealed quite a bit about fixing a dress fail, Alicia chose another dress for time’s sake.
She shined in a long-sleeve sequined tuxedo dress that ties along the waist.
Twirling, Alicia looks and feels great while Persuasive by Doechii and SZA plays in the video.
