A family has been left heartbroken after their “loyal” pit bull died fighting off a deadly cobra that attempted to slither into their home.
Nong Horm, two, was discovered dead alongside the 4ft long reptile in the front yard of his home in Pathum Thani, central Thailand, on Tuesday night.

The dog was nearing the end of her pregnancy and was carrying around 10 baby puppies.
Owner Buncherd Praprom, 35, is seen in heartbreaking photos lying next to the dying dog, which had several bites around her mouth.
The monocled cobra, one of the world’s deadliest snakes, was dying after being injured by the protective dog. Its lethal venom is thought to have killed the dog in a matter of minutes.
Owner Suriyon Chanthakhet, 51, said the loyal pet lived with them all in the property.

He said: “Our beautiful dog was killed while protecting us from the cobra. My heart is breaking. Thinking about the pain she must have experienced makes me cry.”
Suriyon claimed to have heard Nong Horm fighting with something near the front yard, but by the time he got outside, it was too late to save the dog from the snake.
Suriyon, who is seen mourning in the pictures talked to Nong Horm as she was dying, saying: “What has just happened to you, my dear?

“Why did this tragic accident happen to you? I am so sorry that you died while you were pregnant.”
Suriyon admitted that he blamed himself for not being able to save Nong Horm and her puppies.
Shortly after, the cobra died as well. The snake was then taken outside, while Nong Horm was buried in the back garden.
Suriyon added: “Nong Horm was the best pet dog our family have even taken care of. She was so loyal, even giving her life for us.”
It’s not the first time a dog has been praised for defending itself against a snake.
Another dog died in November after being bitten by a cobra while protecting its owner’s children.
His owner, Sunil Krushna Samantray, told police the dog had been tied up in front of his home in the village of Mundamuhana when tragedy struck.
